MEVCO Executive Team
Matt brings over four decades of business acumen to his role as CEO and Executive Director. With his extensive career spanning the technology, automotive and mining industries, Matt has a hard-earned reputation as a respected leader with a strong passion for technological innovation.
Throughout his career, Matt has fostered strong, mutually beneficial partnerships that are essential for driving sustainable growth. Matt’s leadership extends to managing large teams, with a proven track record of guiding organisations with over 300 personnel to achieve market leadership.
Beyond his professional duties, Matt is a dedicated family man and credits his four children with broadening his perspective on health, global responsibility, family, and sustainability – values that resonate deeply in his leadership approach at MEVCO.
Financial Controller
Mark Spencer is MEVCO’s Financial Controller, bringing extensive experience in financial leadership across the mining technology sector. Based in Perth, Mark oversees the company’s financial strategy, reporting directly to the CEO.
Before joining MEVCO, he was Group Financial Controller at Micromine, where he supported the business through periods of significant growth and transformation. Mark is passionate about building strong financial foundations that enable innovation and long-term success. His expertise ensures MEVCO continues to deliver sustainable value for customers, partners, and stakeholders as the company leads the electrification of mining light vehicle fleets.
Armed with an aeronautical engineering degree from Loughborough University, Ryan’s career has included stints at Dyson and several of the mining world’s leading companies, including Minnovare and Fortescue Metals Group.
At Dyson, Ryan worked on the patented Dyson fan, researched the aero-acoustics of turbo machinery and was also involved in the company’s then top-secret electric car project, with the latter bringing a wealth of knowledge to his current position as Technical Director at MEVCO. Ryan is a firm believer in site visits and working hand in hand with mining clients and vehicle operators. He values honest feedback and has experience in providing fast, tailor-made solutions for clients around the world.
Nick brings 15 years of extensive experience in mining, specializing in drill and blast optimization, ventilation, and civil projects. His career spans operations, engineering, and technical B2B solution sales, working with Tier-1 clients globally. Nick holds tertiary qualifications from UNSW and the University of Arizona.
At MEVCO, he drives global business growth and manages corporate accounts. With a proven track record at leading companies like Minetek, Minnovare, and Hexagon, Nick is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions and fostering long-term partnerships in the mining industry.
Jack is a mining industry leader with 20 years of experience in the equipment, consumables, and attachment industries. He has focused on managing sales and products, product initiatives, and translating market knowledge into product opportunities that deliver customer value.
Jack entered the mining industry with ESCO and held various engineering and product management roles. As Global Portfolio Manager he led the underground mining, dredging, and construction expendables teams.
Jack has a track record of driving growth through business development, strategy execution, and acquisition integration. In the OEM equipment space, he has background in product portfolio management, sales, product development, marketing, and engineering with Caterpillar and JCB.
Josue brings over 15 years of experience in mining, customer service, business logistics, and team leadership. With expertise in project management, IT systems, and software implementation, Josue excels in delivering global mining solutions.
Josue’s background includes leading service and support for mining products and providing leadership in hardware and software solutions across various international markets.
Holding an Electronic Engineering Degree and a Master’s in Information Systems, Josue is dedicated to optimising processes and enhancing operational efficiency through innovative solutions.
Brendan has over 15 years of experience in automotive engineering, strategy, and program management, driving significant advancements in electric vehicle technology and sustainability.
His roles as Chief Engineer, Head of Program, and Head of Strategy at a major automotive OEM underscore his expertise in developing innovative vehicle programs.
At MEVCO, Brendan is working collaboratively with the team in leading the mining sector’s shift to electric vehicles. This collaborative leadership is crucial in accelerating the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and operational efficiency. Brendan is dedicated to delivering OEM-quality electric mining vehicles and advancing the industry’s transition to zero-emission solutions.

Matt Cahir
CEO, Founder & Executive Director
Matt is a seasoned executive with over 40 years of experience in the technology, motor vehicle, and mining industries. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering high customer value and has a passion for technology.
Matt began his career in the software and telecommunications industries and has since gained a reputation as an inspiring leader with a focus on strategic and process-driven management. Throughout his time in these industries, Matt has successfully led global organisations, managing teams of over 300 people and taking full P&L responsibility for many businesses.
Matt has extensive experience in various functions, including sales, marketing, operations, customer delivery, and infrastructure, and has a track record of leading organisations through complex challenges and ensuring that they are delivering customer value.
Derek Proudian
Chair
Derek Proudian is a Silicon Valley venture investor, start-up CEO, and entrepreneur. He has served as the CEO of six venture-capital backed companies, including Zip2 (Elon Musk’s first company, which he sold to Compaq for over $300 million).
Derek has worked as a general partner at the venture capital firm Mohr Davidow Ventures (MDV), a venture partner at Morgan Stanley Ventures, and as an R&D manager at Hewlett-Packard Labs. As a general partner at MDV he was part of a team credited with delivering $3.5 billion in returns to limited partners from an initial $225 million investment.
As a founding board member, Derek has helped shepherd a number of companies to successful exits, including: mSpot, which was sold to Samsung in 2012 for $50 million; Daintree Networks, which was sold to General Electric in 2016 for $100 million; SquareTrade, which was sold to Allstate in January 2017 for $1.4 billion; and Newtrax Technologies, which was sold to Sandvik AB in June 2019 for $70 million.
Lex McArthur
Lex co-founded Jolimont Capital with Charles Gillies, where they both worked together from 2003 to 2012 to complete 30 technology investments.
Prior roles include founder and CEO of ADI, a technology seed investor, and CEO of Emerge CMC, a joint venture between Oracle, NEC, Telstra, and four major universities. His mining industry experience includes time as a Mining Engineer at Mt Isa in Queensland.MEVCO Advisors
