Meet Ryan, MEVCO’s Technical Director in Perth, Australia. Ryan is a key driver of our innovative EV solutions for the mining industry. With an aeronautical engineering degree from Loughborough University and experience at Dyson, Minnovare, and Fortescue Metals Group, he brings valuable technical expertise to our team. At Dyson, Ryan contributed to the patented Dyson fan, researched aero-acoustics of turbo machinery, and worked on the company’s top-secret electric car project, with the latter bringing a wealth of knowledge to his current position as Technical Director at MEVCO.
Ryan’s approach to working with mining clients is based on hands-on collaboration, open communication, and a deep understanding of their operations, allowing him to deliver customised EV solutions that meet their specific needs and challenges.
What’s your proudest achievement at MEVCO?
The last 12 months have been about laying the foundations at MEVCO to be able to deliver products and service that will make a difference in the mining industry. Beyond that, putting together the first prototype vehicles and software offerings has been fulfilling, working with customers on what the products need to do.
What’s next for MEVCO?
The next 12 months will see MEVCO delivering products and services to customers globally. I’m always excited by the challenge of putting new technology into mining, this next year there will be lots of opportunity to learn and improve as we deliver.
What defines success for you at MEVCO?
Success to me is about delivering on what we say we can deliver. Having a mining customer confirm that our products were able to deliver the value described in the sales pitch is where I feel successful. That, and having the products delivered, make an operators day easier, safer, better.
What do you do for fun?
My favourite hobby has to be sailing. I compete in the inshore racing series of my local sailing club, usually running the main sail but I also get the opportunity to be the captain from time to time. No better way of clearing the mind than focusing on getting someone else’s boat through a busy start line un-scathed!
It’s been an incredible year with Ryan on the MEVCO team – here’s to many more!
